Chocolate Strawberry Skewers (Printable)

Bite-sized strawberries coated in dark chocolate on skewers, garnished with nuts or coconut.

# What You'll Need:

→ Fruit

01 - 24 large fresh strawberries, hulled

→ Chocolate

02 - 7 oz dark chocolate (60–70% cocoa), chopped
03 - 1 tsp coconut oil or neutral vegetable oil

→ Garnishes (optional)

04 - 2 tbsp chopped pistachios
05 - 2 tbsp shredded coconut
06 - 2 tbsp white chocolate, melted (for drizzling)

# Step-by-Step:

01 - Wash and thoroughly dry the strawberries. Hull them if not already done.
02 - Thread three strawberries onto each skewer and set aside.
03 - Melt the dark chocolate with coconut oil in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, stirring until smooth, or microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until melted.
04 - Line a tray with parchment paper to place dipped skewers.
05 - Hold each skewer and dip the strawberries partially or fully into the melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off.
06 - Place the dipped skewers on the tray and sprinkle with chopped pistachios or shredded coconut while the chocolate is still wet.
07 - Drizzle melted white chocolate over the dipped strawberries for a decorative finish.
08 - Refrigerate skewers for 15 minutes or until chocolate sets. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It takes less time than deciding what to watch on TV, but looks impressive enough for any occasion.
  • The contrast between cool, tart strawberries and rich chocolate is something you don't get tired of.
  • You can make them ahead and pull them out when you need something sweet without turning on the oven.
02 -
  • Wet strawberries are the most common mistake, the chocolate will separate and look streaky if there's any water left on the surface.
  • If your chocolate gets too thick while dipping, reheat it gently for a few seconds to bring back the smooth consistency.
03 -
  • Chill your strawberries in the fridge before dipping so the chocolate sets faster and you get a thicker coat.
  • A small offset spatula or butter knife works well for drizzling white chocolate if you don't have a piping bag.
